Bariatric surgery-friendly restaurants in NE
by yitka graham
Many people do not like to tell others they have had bariatric surgery, so requesting smaller portions without having to explain why may also be embarassing.
This app will help people to find restaurants and other places to eat where people who have had bariatric surgery can enjoy themselves without worrying about being placed in difficult situations.
Thank you for your support, 4 supporters in the first 20 minutes is awesome!
Only 20 more supporters needed and then we move into the design phase to get this up and running! Please continue to support and share the sooner we hit 100 supporters, the sooner this app gets launched. Thank you all for your support so far
8 more supporters are needed to reach our target of 100 supporters. We're so close to meeting our goal and taking this project into the design phase. Please continue to register your support and share widely. It would be great to wake up knowing we have 100 supporters. Thank you all for believing in this project!
As many of you know, we have exceeded our target and now have 110 supporters...keep them coming!! We will now move into the design phase, and all you supporters will be asked to contribute and vote for the app name, colour scheme, rating options, etc.,m which will take place over the next two weeks. After this, the contributions with the most votes will be used to generate the app and then it will be released on the App Store and Google Play Store. This app is for all bariatric surgery patients in the North East, please contribute actively, so the app reflects YOUR needs and what YOU want from it. Thank you again for all your support, we are getting closer to making this a reality! Please share widely.
We are in design phase! We now have a fortnight to design and decide on what the app will look like....please participate and get our app designed!
Please continue to support the design phase...nearly there! Thank you for your support!
Nearly ready to be launched....watch this space and thank you to everyone who has contributed...this is going to help so many people!
I do understand your points, but you need to consider that the map will simply be an empty map until people add restaurants and food vendors to it. The more people who find it useful (for whatever reason) the more places are mapped and the more useful a tool it is.
Thank you for your comments. My aim is to help bariatric surgery patients with this app, as we know there is an identified need. This app will focus on their needs, but if other people want to use it, then that is a bonus. People who have had bariatric surgery have a range of needs and this app is being created for them. They struggle enough to have their needs met and need something specific.
I think this is a great idea too and agree that the app will have more appeal if aimed at a wider audience, which I also think will make it more sustainable. I would definitely use the app. It would also be useful to know which places offer a good range of healthy options too, not just smaller portions.
I think this is a really good idea. I wonder if as an app it might have wider appeal if were available and accessible to anyone wanting to know where they can get small portions - I'm thinking that many older people have reduced appetites and so perhaps this app would also be useful for them (or their families) when choosing somewhere to eat.
What a fantastic idea for an app!! Can't wait to get it :)
This is a brilliant concept and will help all patients undergoing bariatric surgery in the local area.
I like the idea, get my bypass op done on Tuesday and won't know of anywhere I can then go out for a meal without having to explain why I want a small portion. Well done for thinking about this x
